The use of a/an and there is/there are
We use "a" when in the next word the first letter have consonant sound, and we use "an" when the next words starts with a letter with vocal sound.
Examples:
- a house
- an elephant
- an orange
- an appointment
- a present
There is/there are
We use "there is" when we speak about singular and we use "there are" when we speak about plural.
Examples:
- There is a house/There are 2 houses
- There is an elephant/There are 2 elephants
In negative forms will be like this:
- There isn´t a house/There aren´t 2 houses
- There isn´t an elephant/There aren´t 2 elephants
In question forms:
- Is there a house? Yes, there is No, there isn´t
- Are there 2 houses? Yes, there are No, there aren´t
- Is there an elephant? Yes, there is No, there isn´t
- Are there 2 elephants? Yes, there are No, there aren´t
